Land Seeker Description

Hi,

I’m a 54 female with a background in chicken & pony care and gardening. Seeking land I can raise turkeys on and/or elderberries among other vegetables, flowers and alfalfa.  I’m handy and hard working.  I do taxes during part of the year. I used to do bookkeeping full time all year. I have knowledge of a lot of local medicinal and edible plants, always learning more and love to share.

My ideal locations are Corbett to Molalla, Estacada areas. East Multnomah county, and Clackamas county.

What features of the property are essential?

It would be helpful if there is a barn to keep some things in.
I could provide/build my own structures for poultry if nothing is suitable/available. Access to water is important, if nothing is in place or what you have is broken we may be able to fix it.

Describe your farming experience

I grew up in a rural area with a pony and I was responsible for chickens, from starting chicks to picking up eggs and caring for them from the time I was 5. When I was a teenager I boarded 2 mules while the owner was gone for a month. I help out with and acre of raspberries and dahlia care the past few years.

Are you currently farming?

No

What are your short term goals for the land

Raise turkeys to sell meat. Raise alfalfa to sell as tea. Grow corn and supportive plantings like wildflowers.
I can assist you in development of camping areas if you are doing that, or other farm help needed.

What are your long term goals

Plant Blueberries, Elderberries, any shrubs or trees that the owner agrees would be beneficial.

Describe your housing needs

I would welcome the opportunity to share space on the land, I could stay in an RV, ADU or share a house. I have a house in Portland that I'm in process of moving out of so I can rent it out. I'm an empty nester and downsizing. I'm housesitting until mid Sept.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

I welcome all humans and view my opportunity to interact with diverse people as a chance to learn or empathize with them. I respect people of all walks of life and ensure that I use language that is welcoming, affirming and creates a safe place for communication and expression.
