My wife, two daughters and I are seeking a small amount of acreage in Deschutes County Oregon. We plan to use natural practices without any chemicals, along with rotational grazing patterns for livestock.
Our goal is to heal the land.
We are creative and have experience in starting our own business, and are financially literate. We have no debt and hope to partner/purchase/lease-to-own.
Thank you
Basic utilities are an essential.
We are looking for "pasture" and some water. A well would be essential but irrigation would not. "Pasture" is relative - we would love to turn something that has no grass into pasture as well.
Lots of backyard gardening experience, along with lots of research and reading. We have learned a lot about permaculture and the benefits of diversifying plantings and how rotational grazing paired with rest periods allows land to heal itself.
I can’t list any “farming experience”, but we have high aspirations and determination.
We plan to use grazers/herbivores partnered with omnivores, such as chickens to rotationally graze pasture. This methodology is completely scalable; we can make it work on a single acre, 20 acres, and even 2,000 acres.
In addition to livestock, we plan to grow perennials and annuals as produce using organic practices such as composting, vermiculture and absolutely zero chemicals.
Heal soil. Raise food.
Imagine a farm that you look forward to stepping onto because you know there is always something you can take away; a farm that encourages openness, fellowship and community. We want to create a place that demonstrates the possibility of using God-given resources to repair the soil and provide food. We'd love to grow nourishing food, that repairs instead of damaging the land, for our own family and the Central Oregon community.
As we are a family of four, we would ideally like to find a minimum of 2 bedrooms. 1 or more baths would be fine. But we are flexible.
We would love to create an environment on our farm that is completely open to people coming for visits, workshops, how-to's and even learning themselves how to start a farm. We have a passion for seeing land healed and would love show others how to do the same.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
