Seeking Acreage for Beginning Farmer

Looking for acreage as a beginner to learn about farming and start production of heirloom garlic. Current experience is in home gardening, but want to secure small acreage to expand into farming. Long term vision is production of garlic, herbs and mushrooms. Green house would be great but not necessary.

We are not interested in spraying chemicals, managing livestock, growing grain or grass seed.

What features of the property are essential?

Ideally, a barn or place to dry the garlic, equipment would be welcome but not needed (we are looking to lease or purchase our own), certified organic or non-sprayed land, water rights or irrigation available.

We only possess home gardening experience, though we are taking classes and networking with other farmers to grow our experience and learn more.

What are your short term goals for the land

We are interested in the production of heirloom garlic for retail, farm to table and seed sales. We are looking to start small and expand as we get more familiar and comfortable with the process.

What are your long term goals

Long term goals is to own a farm outright, build or live in existing house and continue producing garlic and branch out into herbs, mushroom and eventual CSA boxes or farmers market produce.

Describe your housing needs

We have our own home and do not need on-site housing. However, the option to camp for overnights would be welcome
