I have managed my own fungi farm from 2019-2022 and have been a professional mycologist since 2017. I was on track to attend graduate school in mycology this fall (2022) but have changed course at the chance I to get back into agricultural mycology. My goal is to do agricultural research and recreate a collectively owned CSA program involving the items you don’t typically get in a CSA (fruits, herbs, mushrooms). I have trialed the program in Southern Oregon and had great success as the mushroom grower and provider.
electricity, water access, woodland/shady
At my farm I managed the operation and people who grew 18 species of fungi throughout the year for various clients.
Slow and steady infrastructure investments (for farming) and grant writing (for farming) over the next 1-2 years. Small scale growth geared towards training employees on cultivation and production procedures.
Build an outdoor area and indoor facility for education and research. Expand the CSA program.
Living where I farm would be ideal.
I will do everything I can to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for people of diverse backgrounds.
