We are a married couple who have been full-time organic farmers since 1997 and are seeking a long-term land opportunity to move our farm operation onto. We have an established contract-seed production farm business that produces certified organic specialty crop seed, on a wide range of crops, for several national retailers. The land we currently lease is not available for lease past 2021 and we are looking for a new long-term location to move our farm operation onto.
We are hoping to find 15-25 open acres of quality soil with ample irrigation water, ideally with utilities, structures and, if we’re lucky, a home. We are also open to raw land that needs development and we will find housing nearby. We are open to a variety of arrangements from outright sale to long-term lease.
We have a strong land stewardship ethic and strive to improve the soils and ecology of the farm using cover crops, insectaries, hedgerows and crop rotation. We have also been farm educators for many years and have trained many new farmers. Finally, we understand the business of farming and are consistently seeking a strong triple bottom line in the forms of economic, social and ecological profitability.
We have an excellent reputation for quality crop production and land stewardship and references are available.

- Good quality soil for specialty crop production
- Ample irrigation water with water rights
- Housing - While ideally we would like suitable housing on the farm, we are open to finding housing in the local area.
We have been full-time organic farmers since 1997. For most of those years, fresh vegetables were our primary crop and we sold through farmers markets, CSA programs and wholesale to grocers, restaurants and distributors. In 2010 we began transitioning to specialty-crop seed production and we now focus exclusively on producing a variety of seed crops on contract for a number of national seed retailers and wholesalers. We have also worked as farm educators for several non-profits and university extension.
Short-term plans would include:
- Find local housing
- Establish needed infrastructure (irrigation, storage, etc)
- Improve soils as needed (soil tests, cover-crops, amendments)
- Continue current crop production
- Plant insectaries and hedges
- Determine local soil, climate, pest, disease and weed pressures
- Integrate into the community and establish relationships with neighbors and local farmers
Our long-term plans include to continue developing our organic seed production business with an emphasis on quality seed, excellent land stewardship, profitability, and happy employees. At one point we may consider diversifying into livestock or other crops. We are hoping to find farmland that we can own or lease for at least 20 years so that we do not need to move the farm business again.
While ideally the farm property has an existing house, we are open to finding housing in the nearby area. We are a mature couple needing clean, comfortable housing.
