I am a graduate of the United States Secret Service Training Academy, the U.S. Army Intelligence School, and earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Minnesota, with an emphasis on American Government and Foreign Relations. From 1991-2000, during my tenure as an Agent for the United States Secret Service, I formed a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food, clothing, shelter and other amenities to economically challenged individuals and families in Chicago’s Southside neighborhoods.
I met my wife in Chicago and moved to a suburb of Minneapolis, MN to raise our 4 children. My eldest son is a Chef seeking to open up an organic restaurant, one son that is seeking to play baseball for the Oregon Ducks in 2023, and twin girls who are looking at scholarship opportunities in Eugene and Northern California.
Although my extended family farms soybeans and corn, I was not afforded the opportunity to be brought up around the craft of farming. My passion for planting and growing crops extends beyond just having a green thumb. I strongly subscribe to the idea of doing the right thing and believe in the pursuit of organic practices. I am not currently interested in growing marijuana as a crop or purchasing land for that purpose.
My preference would be a 1-3 year transition period to work/learn the ways of the farm and farmer, in hopes to carry on traditions and proven methodologies established by an existing operation.
Although a novice, I am easily coached, a quick learner and an extremely hard worker. Additionally, my expertise in business operations, specifically improving sales and profits, have a proven track record of success.
My goal would be to offer a full-time partnership with a seasoned farmer who would like to see their farm continue on for generations, eventually turning over responsibility to me and my family.
Water rights, EFU preferred. Healthy soil and favorable layout.
I have only assisted my extended family with soybean and corn crops but very limited. Other than loving plant life, having a green thumb, and willing to work hard, I am a novice.
For the first few years, my goal would be to increasingly take on responsibilities and duties of the existing owner, learning while working the farm. By the 4th or 5th year, my goal would be to be fully integrated with the duties and requirements to continue farming for generations. During this period, my contributions, beyond labor, would be to utilize my entrepreneurial experience to grow profits and gain momentum.
Continue to establish my success as a farmer and keeper of proven methodologies. I do not intend to sell the property as my goal is to create a family farmstead that will be around for generations.
I am open to purchasing a residence near the farm and/or can live in our family RV, depending on the needs of the arrangement.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
