We (J+B) are land tenders and defenders, problem solvers and question askers, lovers of hard work and of simple rest, looking for a 1-few acres in MultCo/Clackamas for the next step in our land journey.
We have combined experience in production agriculture, including specialty practices like no-till and dry farming, habitat restoration, medicinal herb growing and medicine making, as well as experience in carpentry, consensus collectives and worker cooperatives, business management, farming education, and community organizing.
We are looking for land to set down our roots and take the next step of cultivating our relationship with place, food, and community. Collective practices, co-farming, and apprenticeship/mentorship models are interesting and inspiring to us. We dream of interweaving production agriculture, ancestral plant cultivation, perennial and permaculture habitat stewardship, community support, and good, good food.
We are values-forward and are interested in finding land (and other land stewards!) that align and supports us in those values.
We are open and curious about a number of different arrangements, including lease, lease-to-own, work trade, or farmer succession. We currently have housing in Portland, but are interested in housing options.
Field access to water, storage, existing greenhouse or space to build one
Multiple years of no-till production agriculture experience combined with leading a farmer education program. A decade of medicinal herb growing and medicine making. Two years of business management experience as well.
Settle and build relationship with land seasonally to move towards small scale CSA, medicinal herb growing, and establishing connection with a market and with community.
PWYC farm stand, CSA, medicinal plant intensives/workshops, community education, value added products like teas, farm dinners, permaculture orchard, habitat restoration
We currently have stable housing in Portland, but are excited to explore housing options if available.
We both represent a range of different backgrounds and hold deep values around anti-oppression and justice. Stewardship of land for us is includes supporting Indigenous communities in restoring ancestral access and relationship to land and place. We are eager and excited to work with farmers from different backgrounds!
