Land Seeker Description

Looking to farm. I’d like to be building equity within two years.

Ideally, farming organic fruits and vegetables.

Open to other things.

Have 10-acres of land elsewhere. Open to trading.

Generally, the counties I’m looking in are: Tillamook, Yamhill, Marion, Polk, Linn, Douglas, Coos, Curry, and Josephine. I am open to others, if the situation is right.

I’m especially interested in year-round farming.

What features of the property are essential?

Ideally, it is already in-use for organic vegetable farming. If not, it would be compatible with doing so.

Describe your farming experience

I'm a hard working guy and love to work outdoors. As a child, for about five years I filled my basement with plants under grow lights and gardened outdoors. I always have had a great love of nature.

Within the last five years, I've had two seasons of the fairly complex experience of outdoor cannabis growing. I do not use it, personally.

I was recently a farm hand on a six-generation 40-acre organic farm in Minnesota with about 90 CSA customers and on-site market. I also have been volunteering on a three-generation biodynamic farm.

Previously, I worked on an organic small vegetable and herb farm in the desert in Arizona for a couple of months.

I have a number of years of mechanic experience and was the resident mechanic when necessary in my recent position.

Are you currently farming?

No

What are your short term goals for the land

My short term goal is to get started, gaining experience and knowledge as I go.

I am open to being mentored by the right person, as necessary.

I am not locked into growing vegetables and fruits. I am open to other organic options as well if something else makes sense e.g. existing profitable flower business etc.

What are your long term goals

Organically, holistically, and biodynamically farm or homestead producing a large variety of fruits and vegetables. Also, raising lamb, goats, chickens and possibly pigs on a reasonably small-scale especially used for fertilization.

If, as a business, successfully expanding it to the point of being significantly profitable.

Describe your housing needs

My girlfriend and I are minimalists and can theoretically make due with a tent, though a standard house would be ideally available.

Currently, I am living on a farm with a small horse stable near Amity, OR and am able to relocate at any time. I have a 18-foot camper to live out of if necessary.
