Looking for some acreage to lease or rent within 30 miles of Portland, may consider a bit further. For the right place I may want to eventually purchase if that is an option. At the moment I just have my travel trailer, ducks and chickens, and 2 livestock guardian dogs. Electricity is nice but not needed, water isn’t needed if there is a river/creek/stream nearby. Open to unused farmland and forest land. I would like to find a place that I can grow a few acres of crops and take care of and steward the land over the next few years. For the first year, I would like to focus on livestock—raising bees, poultry, graze with sheep, and getting set up for growing crops. Then growing a few acres of for profit organic vegetables the next year.
I grew up with sustainable organic farming. I’m not looking to do anything big for the first few years at least, just small scale 2-8 acres for vegetables. I’m ok with larger acreage for livestock and potential future goals. Please me know what you or someone you know might have and we can meet!
Would like to find something by the end of September. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Electricity and building structures are nice but not necessary. Looking for a place that is organic (doesn’t need to be certified) and that has some forest/trees. Water is essential, such as a river/stream but other sources are good too.
I grew up with farming with my parents. They started with 300 sheep when I was around five then transitioned to sustainable organic farming on 75 acres with forest and fields. We have done everything from raise rabbits, sheep, horses, waterfowl, chickens, guardian dogs, bees, gardening, maintaining wild native plants, growing acres of mainly potatoes, as well as all sorts of rare vegetables.
For the next year, I’d like to just think small and focus on my livestock, planting native plants/berries, gardening and preserving rare seeds, and figuring out how to best steward the land. I’d like to also raise bees and get some dairy sheep for grazing. After that, if the place is right I would like to get set up with the NRCS and get the equipment to be able to successfully grow organic vegetables.
For the right property and if the owners wish to lease this long, I’d like to continue helping get the land to its best potential while not planning any massive projects. By year 5, I would like to have the land thriving symbiotically with farming and wild habitat. I would like to be growing 5-10 crops (ideally potatoes, but depends on the land) for profit.
I live in a 30ft travel trailer that I would need to bring with me to wherever I’d be. If you have a house to rent, I may consider it.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
