New to the Ag world but hoping to dive deep. I’m currently a nurse and live with just my dog, renting in Portland with a fun backyard garden. I am interested in building community and becoming an integral part of a respectful, creative and diverse one. Would love a mentor(s) and am hopeful to find 2-5 acres with the ability to raise ducks, chickens, and sheep as well as flower gardening and market vegetables/mushrooms. Interested in learning more about no input, permaculture, aquaponics, and husbandry. Have cash to pay lease and can offer additional trade for work, housesitting, market work, social media management, and even babysitting/medical caregiving. Ideally, would find a place with access to a greenhouse and some tools to share/lease. Hoping to get more specialized in mushroom farming and nursery as well.
Electricity, well or water rights, greenhouse, small pasture, coop permitting
Very little outside of my backyard farm. Childhood was spent on and off farms and I went to an agricultural focused college but got a degree in Nursing.
Learn sustainable and regional farming practices and have a successful small CSA with vegetables, flowers, fiber products, and dairy/eggs
Buy a farm and create a cooperative focused on encouraging and supporting women farmers as a second career. I would love to be able to leave healthcare behind in the next 5 years.
1-2 beds with room for a home office. Have 1 dog.
Constantly seek out education and knowledge through experience and community to enhance my understanding of diversity as it applies to the Ag communities in Oregon. Listen, uplift, and grow.
