About us:

Greetings! My name is Melody and my wife’s name is Cristina! We were thrilled to find this website and hope that our intentions match up! The reason we are here is my wife and I lost our long held corporate positions due to Covid-19 and now we’ve finally had the time to work on us and our dream. We are getting close to 40 now and are ready to take the jump in to the life we’ve been dreaming of. We are highly interested in Organic farming and sustainable agriculture such as Biodynamic farming to feed ourselves and others in the community, microgreens, human mental and physical health based on the diet, Animal husbandry, staying green and saving the earth.

I was born and raised in Oregon and dearly missed the rain and mist in the air and the green beauty after my parents moved me to Arizona as a teen. I am an Oregonian and I miss home. It is time to move back and soak up some green, some health, some outdoors… we want to be fully self sustainable off of the land and our own efforts. We want to feed ourselves and others from our own garden, raise healthy farm animals, learn and teach with a purpose… we just want to love life in the middle of nowhere, live healthfully and bring joy, health and knowledge to others with what we do. We are off grid seekers, adventure lovers and super handy. Avid camping, hiking and meditators. We have been together for 10 years and are both very active and fit, intelligent, skilled, fun and vivacious females.

My wife has worked construction and landscaping most of her life and has rebuilt a truck. We garden and build trailers together. I was raised on a farm (but not by the animals hahaha). We have been management and business owners. We are both animal lovers and have raised and nursed many different types of animals throughout life. We make a spectacular team and we’ve built many things together. Never been a challenge too big!

We have 2 dogs and some indoor cats. No kids 🙂

Needs:

  • 5+ Acres of organic raw land, mostly forest, would love to have use of natural water such as a stream/river/lake and well, with water rights
  • Location must be between the coast and Bend, no farther north than Bend please, and no farther south than Port Orford
  • A fair monthly price
  • A kind, respectful land owner with good communication
  • A lease to own or rent situation
  • Lots of space between other land occupants and our location- we like it quiet and private
  • Easy access to a road
  • House not required, but lodging would be a plus
  • Pre built outbuildings (in good repair) are a plus- example: pole barn, greenhouse, shed, horse barn, chicken coops etc
  • In place utilities
  • An RV pad with hookups would be a plus, but necessary

Creative solution offered: Possible work/learn on a bustling farm, possible trade lease for work and learning on your farm. We are both eternal students, we would love to learn more about farming and gardening, canning, raising animals, etc. Also, possible partnering on farming business or other business ventures. We are eligible for the ‘CRP Transition Incentives Program (TIP)’ which provides retired or retiring land owners or operators with two additional annual rental payments on land enrolled in expiring Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts, on the condition they sell or rent this land to a beginning farmer or rancher or to a socially disadvantaged group. So if you’re retiring and a part of CRP currently, renting to us would make you eligible for 2 years of rental payments for your land from CRP.

What we forsee:

We want to live on the land and homestead with sustainable organic farming, healthy animals and help the local communities through organic foods and herbs, teaching and helping to save the earth one farm or mountain at a time.

Describe your farming experience

-Melody was raised with exposure to her grandfather's farm, learning mostly animal husbandry, some food preparation techniques (canning, drying fruits and meats, over season food storage, etc.) She was raised in a family of entrepreneurs. She also has grown a home garden, and raised and cared for many types of animals and humans. She is also a human and animal healer and energy worker.

-Cristina was raised working at both of her parent's businesses, getting her hands dirty right alongside them. Dad taught her about auto mechanics, landscaping and construction, which she is more than proficient at. Mom taught her how to work in and own a salon... and the art of chat! Cristina has been trained in both water safety and CPR. She is also a Medical Massage Therapist and has been treating patients for 15 years. In short she can fix anything including people.

-We possess a great drive towards sustainable biodynamic and organic farming. Teaching and learning are a huge hobby. Both wives are biohackers and always searching for the best ways to obtain optimal health. We are also tree huggers and able business women. Our next learning adventure will be EMT courses together!

What are your short term goals for the land

Obtain grant money in order to grow certified organic vegetables and herbs. Have a farm stand up front at a main road. Learn and teach. Raise our own animals and explore biodynamic farming possiblities... all while exploring Oregon trails and water features in between. Just living the good life!


What are your long term goals

Our primary goal is to become nearly, if not totally, self-sufficient. We have plans to install solar for electrical needs, as well as water collection. We are not opposed to being connected to city or county utilities, but envision being mostly off-grid long term. We have plans to construct both a house and barn on our own land. Business plans include starting an RV and camping park, making our organic food available with a farm stand on the road up front. Making the produce available on a larger scale down the road. Teaching other farmers and people how to grow their own food organically or biodiversely is a huge goal as well. "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime."
