Hello! I live and work in the Salem area, always aspired to have a little farm of my own and spent a lot of time growing up visiting my grandparents on their farm. Learning by example what it takes to take care of the land.
Hoping to find a lease to own arrangement with a place to live onsite or a bit of land nearby Salem to plant a filbert or cherry orchard and other Oregon local fruit and berries.
Extremely open to suggestions and advice! I want to learn and have a lot of motivation to make the farm successful.
Water is essential, I can set up irrigation as needed and set up solar panels if elecricity service isnt yet established.
I helped my grandparents growing up to take care of their small acreage, they had chickens and grew melons, apple, pears, grape vines and several acres of pasture. I really enjoyed my time with them taking care of the land.
Plan out crops, get a solid underatanding of the soil, best areas to plant and boundaries of land.
Establish young trees, grapevines and/or other fruiting plants.
Set up watering system and a good routine for adding compost and fertilizer.
Set up coop if needed for hens
Establish good relation with potential buyers to make sure crop is put to good use
Set up good pruning and harvest routine for trees, grape vines, others
Continue well established routines for fertilizing, watering and make sure plants are disease free
Keep working with buyers and market
Any should be fine as long as the foundation is solid and there arent any major leaks or issues. I can do some simple repairs and basic maintainence.
Treat all people in the community with fairness and respect
