Looking for Land and to Sustainably Improve Your Soil!

Land Seeker Description

Creating a thriving mini ecosystem and improving the land quality (and the life quality of all that grows on that land) is my passion. My husband and I currently raise fiber and meat rabbits and are looking to expand into poultry and a small herd of miniature dairy goats. We are looking to be a small, sustainable farm, focusing on regenerative agriculture. We use small livestock in rotation to work and fertilize the land, in conjunction with green manure and other crops to replenish nutrients in soil. We are looking for lease, or lease-to-own, farm / acreage with a house. Homes that may need work are fine, within reason. Fenced-in pasture, barn, and outbuildings are ideal but not necessary.

What features of the property are essential?

Housing and electricity - I need more than a camper or tiny home for myself, my husband, and two elderly cats. Fencing, cattle panels, and outbuildings are ideal but not necessary.

Describe your farming experience

I have a deep interest in permaculture and sustainability; I have an academic background in sustainability and spend a great deal of time learning and experimenting on our property.
The past few years I have been raising and selling Jersey Wooly and other rabbits. I have been slowly transforming our current yard and garden from dirt and rocks to a thriving miniature ecosystem. I have improving soil quality with a mix of fertilizer from the rabbits and green manure, a rotational system to have the rabbits work the land, and companion planting.

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

Short-term goals are focused on improving soil quality utilizing small livestock and permaculture methods.

What are your long term goals

Long-term goals are to develop a self-sustaining farm and food forest, utilizing permaculture methods, without relying on any external inputs, from feed to fertilizer.

Describe your housing needs

A small established home already on the land with working plumbing and electricity. some work needed is fine. Campers and tiny homes won't work, sorry.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

Community is priority, and respect should be given freely.
