Hello, my name is Jen Davis. I am a native Blue Orchard Bee beekeeper and an organic market garden farmer, right now leasing land for my little Scout Bee Farm in Gales Creek, Oregon.
I have over thirty years in intensive backyard urban farm experience growing vegetables and fruits, raising chickens and ducks and native bees. I have one and a half years experience working on a large farm in Gales Creek, but have also volunteered and worked at other farms on and off for decades.
I have three Permaculture Design certificates including my most recent certificate from the internationally respected organization City Repair. and have trained as a Master Gardener, as well as worked in landscape maintenance and design.
I am a graduate of the Rogue Farm Internship program and the UC Berkely MESA course on farming for climate resilience. I also am a graduate of the intensive OSU/Oregon Bee Project Advanced Bee Identification course.
I have taught classes for a decade about pollinators at the Side Yard Farm, Zenger Farm, One Green World, Sunnyside School and for many other schools, clubs and organizations.
My focus as a farmer is on no-till, low water use, regenerative farming, to protect soil biome to resist drought, diseases, pests and weeds, and to sequester carbon.
I am currently practicing low-till, interplanting market gardening veg on one acre in Gales Creek. I live and my csa clients and markets are in Portland, so I would prefer to farm closer to home if possible.
I am open to collaborations with others, but I also have all my own tools and crew. A space to safely store my tools, an on-site produce wash station and greenhouse space)harvest storage space would be greatly appreciated.
I use only organic methods, but do not need to seek organic certification for my market. My main focus as a farmer could be described as “habitat farming.” My sim is to help work with nature to grow healthy delicious crops. I love to grow rare and heirloom veggies and save seeds. I love to grow lots of bee flowers. I love to nourish people, and donate a good portion of my crops to those in need. In
I am willing to mentor others if there is interest. 🙂 🙂 I enjoy community in farming life and am open to trades as well.
With bee power,
Water rights, sewer, access to bathroom, pesticide/herbicide free land, dependable irrigation, place to store tools, access to greenhouse or option to construct my own onsite, harvest wash station and ideally some short term harvest storage.
I am 56, and have seriously grown food for thirty years. I trained as a Master Gardener and have three Permaculture Design degrees, as well as am a grad if Rogue Farm Corps internship program, UC Berkeley Mesa Farming for Climate Resilience program, and am currently studying no-till ag with Jen Aron at Blue Raven Farm and the Soil Food Web.
In short, I thirty years experience growing food in varying capacities. I have a small certified organic one acre market garden farm called Scout Bee Farm in Gales Creek, OR. I have a great crew and a csa client base and markets I supply. We grow mostly heirloom, open pollinated veg and fruits, grains and herbs. We focus on low/no-till regen ag and water saving techniques. We save seeds and feed birds and bees as part of our practice.
Grow intensive successional organic no-till veg and fruit crops with some herbs, grains and flowers for sale at local markets and for a dedicated csa client base. Help educate others on best practices for feeding pollinators and growing food with low to no-till methods.
