I am new to farming, over 3 years and I have 1 year owning and operating my own farm. I want my farm to produce calorie rich vegetables i.e. legumes, tubers, as well as vegetables that are familiar to people from Mexico and Central America. For this to happen, I will need to put up multiple hoop houses. I am looking for .5 acres -1.5 acres to begin with. The land needs to have water access ( I can provide the actual irrigation) and electricity. I also need soil that is suitable to growing vegetables. I am very serious about farming and want to make this not only a career for myself but an enterprise that actually helps get food to people.
Thank you for considering
on site well, functioning irrigation, electricity
2010-2022 I worked as a farm hand on a 3 acre organic mixed vegetable farm in Everson, Wa. Tasks included land prep, seeding, propagation, planting, weeding, harvesting, preparing and taking product orders. Overseeing a crew
2019-2020 I ran the PCC learning garden, growing food for the food pantry as well as providing education to students
2019-2021 Volunteered with Raceme Farm Collective, laying down mulch, taking out invasives, weeding, planting
2021-present I own and operate my own farm business. This year I ran a 25 person mixed vegetable CSA (still in operation ) for 22 weeks
Develop my farm business and increase revenue incrementally, eventually making enough to live off of and offer livable wages to future employees. Maintain a CSA based farm along with farm online store, offering deliveries in the Portland metro area.
Work with other BIPOC owned farms in the area to run a cooperative CSA. Increase acreage of farm from .5 acres to up to 10 acres. Increase revenue, increase yield, increase market reach.
I will live in Portland, OR
I will do my best to not cause harm to others and welcome in critical feedback and opportunities to repair if harm does occur
