Hearty Roots Farm is looking for a new Home.
Just as we started to grow and expand our farm, our roots are now being pulled up and needing a new place to replant and grow. So with chickens, kittens, and thousands of seeds for the spring, we are seeking a new space to plant and grow.
Looking to pay monthly rent. Our financial capabilities are limited as young parents. But we know a lot about growing food and we’re very passionate about it. We just need the right opportunity.
Thank you for any interest in supporting our family farm,
Cameron and Trinity Himes with Hearty Roots Farm
Dependable water rights, dependable irrigation over all. Land that has been taken care of without the use of herbicides pesticides or chemical fertilizer. A safe and fair space for my family to live.
I completed the rogue farm corporation internship program in 2018. I lived and worked on the farm in Williams, Oregon for 7 months 40 hrs a week, 6 days a week of work was regular. We grew dozens of varieties of fresh veggies fruits and organic seed contracts. The following year I worked for a different farm as a season long employee rather then being an intern. Then next couple years I worked for a variety of farms and grew my own big gardens for my family. I had to work around town for who ever could pay me the most money because I needed to make more money for my family.
Developing blocks of healthy soil through cover cropping and animal grazing rotations. Growing storage crops that can be sold over months and months and trying to develop contracts with organic seed company's.
Developing herds of different animals and establishing reliable ways to grow as much food for the animals as possible. Keep improving on large blocks of various crops for production and personal sustainability.
We have our own converted motorhome. It used to be a Cal fire crew carrier. Our toilet is a self contained nature's head composting toilet. We would need access to power and water. But the reality is our daughter is 5 and we couldn't stay in our motorhome longer then the winter 2023-2024. We would be looking to upgrade to something bigger for our daughter by spring of 2024.
We have lots of chickens and some mouser cats we are looking to move with us.
I'd like to share seeds, educate about seed saving. And I'd like to donate produce when there is over abundances that can't be sold
