hello. My name is Victoria. I have a company called Homestead Economics. A new educational program in Portland offering schools out programs and homeschool enrichment programs for jr homesteaders. They learn the homesteading arts and the economics behind the alternative marketplace by participating in the selling of what they have grown, raised or made.
Currently we are on a quarter acre in the city. We have room for some stuff but I’d like to expand. We currently have cats, dogs and chickens. Within the next couple of weeks we will have two rabbits and two ducks.
I desire to expand into having goats and maybe some sheep. Larger garden, community projects, after school programs, maybe even a playschool.
i have lived around animals my entire life…goats, geese, chickens, pheasants, cattle, horses, pigs…my uncle was the town butcher in a small central Oregon town where I grew up (Madras).
my program website is homesteadec.com if you would like to check us out.
my ideal property (or portion of property) would be 2-5 acres with access to water. Easy distance from Portland would be ideal but can think of other areas as well. My “day job” is all remote on east coast time. I just need a internet connection.
I’d like to put up a building if there isn’t one already. This would be the classroom. Off the grid using natural building materials.
We would also need to install a barn and fencing.
Part of the program includes learning wildcrafting and making herbal medicine…so some undeveloped forest or meadow would be nice.
I’m teaching kids to be good stewards of the land, strong members of the community and empathic to all living things. Although we will use animal products such as eggs, honey, beeswax, wool, etc. we do not teach butchering.
I will admit that animal care and more “inside” homesteading skills are my strong suit. I can grow a garden but would love to partner with someone willing to teach me more of larger scale organic farming.
please let me know if you would be interested in talking collaboration!
Water rights, electricity, internet access, structures build or build able, wildcrafting location.
I have an urban homestead on a quarter acre in SE Portland. As a child I lived with my uncle who was the town butcher. There were lots of farm animals, large gardens, etc.
Add a classroom, barn and fencing
Add animals to make it a functioning venture
Move my day camps and classes to the farm
Grow organic veggie starts
Put in a fruit and nut orchard
have a farm stand (potentially)
Eventually I would like to create an authentic off grid homesteading experience.
Completely organic and green certified
I currently own a house in SE but would be willing to sell for the right opportunity.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
