Grapevine Nursery Looking for Land Lease, Lease-to-Own of 10 acres in Yamhill, Washington, and other nearby Counties

?

Land Seeker Description

We are looking for 10 acres where we can field plant bench grafted grapevines.  The grafts will be planted in the ground in March-April and grown for the season until they go dormant in October.  Vines will be dug from ground and put into cold storage to await delivery to our customers.  Additionally, we are looking for ground for long term lease which can be planted to clean plant mother stock blocks that we can cultivate and collect clean virus free cuttings that are needed for our grafting operations.  Our operation is mostly organic type growing as we cannot use herbicides that have residue or that travel systemically in the vines’ internal structures.  We will use fungicides to protect from Powdery Mildew during the season.

What features of the property are essential?

Reliable irrigation source with water rights, tractor, diesel storage, irrigation pipe for field watering, no adjacent vineyards within 1000 feet.

Describe your farming experience

30+ years of commercial vineyard management and 6 years of nursery stock production experience supplying vine stock to Willamette Valley grape growers.

Are you currently farming?

Yes

What are your short term goals for the land

Plant up to 5 acres of field grown grapevine nursery stock.

What are your long term goals

Establish 3-5 acre mother block using G2 plant material sourced from the Clean Plant Center NW in Prosser Washington, which is a Clean Plant Network facility.

Describe your housing needs

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

As a grapevine nursery we work shoulder to shoulder with the agricultural Hispanic workforce in multiple counties in Oregon. We don't pay attention to skin color when hiring and believe in hiring people with necessary skillsets and providing on the job training if needed.
