Hello community and fellow farmers. I have traveled some of this beautiful world as a military kid, enough to know where I want to be and that is farming on land… I had the privilege of a community of great grandparents that were born in 1900 and 1898, they farmed and gardened. I was the first grand daughter and I learned a lot of old skills that I have had the pleasure of honing.
I am a native Californian who moved to Southern Rural Va during the pandemic where I was able to purchase over 50 acres of land. I am now divorced and relocated to southern OR. While this is not home it is a place I can settle. While every place has its ups and down OR has beautiful land to grow and a lot of great things like WATER from the sky lol.
I am a master level social worker who has a job I adore and time to move into land ownership or leasing again.
Thank you for the time and consideration. and I wish you all the best in your journey.
Water access and preferable rights. Easement. the ability to have trees/wooded area in addition to cleared land. A home with a structure such as a barn or sheds. Cleared areas for goats/sheep/chickens and a market garden that does a mix of veggies, and flowers and herds. Value added products and an area for a farm stand. I would like to offer tours and trips so this would be an agrotourism. Camping, schools, learning, older adults and persons with disabilities (intellectually or physically )
I have had urban farming, square foot gardening, education through the extension for Urban gardening, husbandry and animal care and slaughter, I have had soil testing and other such classes. New farmer orientation, fishing, poultry, and other ruminant animals such as rabbits, goats, and sheep. I have raised turkeys, chickens, ducks, dogs, children, keets (Guinee foul), goats, rabbits. I have created community support for older adults through a CSA that provided 50 boxes a month to those who were aged or disabled, community health and wellness fairs, community monthly farmers markets where I provided the support to micro farmers to bring their goods together for the CSA distribution, taught classes to the community and farmers on how to provide value added products with the items they had, a master mind group on Sundays to support new and older farmer connect and provide support and mentorship opportunities while growing each business. I have worked with and had discussion and actions within the agricultural community leaders, churches, non profits, city, county , state and federal government on all levels from talks to hands on including the Vice president sitting.
I am seeking farm land for commercial farming with the idea of community development centering older adults and persons with disabilities by providing food and community engagement through agrotourism and developments of programs to engage and support. Our main goals is a market garden with the main veggies, herbs, flowers, eggs, and some birds. Bees, and worm composting. I would like to also network with micro farmers who have a product that can be added as value added products to my farm stand/market and CSA offerings.
To have an established commercial farm that is thriving selling and teaching.
I require a home with 3 bedrooms and at least 1 bath. It could be a non traditional home as long as it is livable and safe.
I am a BIPOC, woman over 40, a social worker and a single momma. My education is in community development, mental health and end of life support. It has been my joy to work within communities that are marginalized financial, location because they are rural, older adults grand parenting, i grew up military so I have gravitated and worked to deal with trauma and disabilities .
