Family Seeking Land to Farm. Purchase/Lease With or Without Home

Land Seeker Description

We are a family of 5 currently looking for property in Lincoln, Benton, or Polk County. We are in search of land we can farm and host farm stays. I have been in horticulture since 1998 and now want to farm and be stewards of the land. We are looking to have greenhouses for vegetables and house plants as well as farm Microgreens. We would use organic practices and permaculture farming. In addition to farming we would like to have space for our animals and children. We have 3 teenage boys, 2 of them raise 4h sheep. We have chickens and 2 dogs as well. Our farm stays would be in unique structures like a yurt, dome homes, and canvas tent. We would like to purchase a home but will also consider leasing or rent to own under the right conditions. Ideally the property would be between 10-2

What features of the property are essential?

Water and electricity. Will consider all options presented.

Describe your farming experience

I have 24 years in Horticulture. I have done everything from seeding to growing finished products and everything in between. Perennials, bedding plants, vegetables, fruit, and house plants. I have a degree in horticulture and worked as propagation supervisor at a local greenhouse for 5 years. I have my pesticide applicators license. I have experience with beneficial insects and headed the perennial and organic programs.

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

Short term goals are to begin with the Microgreens business to serve restaurants and the farmer's markets in the area. Begin developing the farm stay and have a few structures (dome home or tents). Put up a few greenhouses to start my propagation and vegetable starts.

What are your long term goals

Within 5-10 years to have the Microgreens business profitable, have multiple structures as short term rentals for camping and visiting the farm, and have produce, eggs, and bedding plants for sale at Farmer's markets.

Describe your housing needs

Ideally at least a 3-4 bedroom home.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

We would be open and welcoming to people of all nationalities, races, genders, lgbtq+, and economic status. We are looking to create a safe, warm, and loving environment. We want to make connections with our neighbors and create lasting relationships. We are very much about mutual aid and respecting one another.
