We are first generation sheep and poultry farmers looking to expand our operation in the coming years with the goal of owning our own small farm. We practice rotational grazing and have been successful in rehabilitating neglected pasture. Interested in improving more pasture while growing. Interested in custom grazing arrangements as well.
Just pasture. I can make improvements (fence, shelters, watering and feeding troughs, etc) to any property. Dry land, rocky soil, weed infested is all fine; sheep work well in all of these environments.
1 year of operational experience with sheep, 10+ years of experience with chickens, grew up on equine facility
Currently, we are seeking to expand our sheep and poultry flocks and expect to reach 400 ewes and 2000 birds by 2025. We are establishing both direct sale markets and commercial contracts for wool, lamb, and eggs.
We would like to get onto our own land by year 5 of our operation so that we can build equity for our children. We'd like to continue to expand the sheep operation and seek out FS grazing leases or long term larger leases, hire employees, and develop an education program geared toward children and adults with special needs (both my wife and I have worked in related fields before farming).
We need housing on site but are very resilient. Single wide, 5th wheel, even a cabin w/o electricity is fine. For the right situation, we could furnish a trailer.
My partner and I are first generational farmers with my partner being 1 of less than 100 black producers in the state of Oregon. We have also been low income our entire lives, through childhood and adulthood. We understand that it is our duty to use the blessing of land and livestock that has been bestowed upon us to help others in our community. This help is provided through access to the tools to start and grow their own operations.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
