Hi! My name is Shae, and my husband, LT, and I are looking for a minimum of one acre, but ideally, 5-10 acres to bring our homesteading dreams to life. We do not need a home on the land at this time, but we are open to moving onto the land at some point down the road. Our main goals right now include using the Joel Salatin method to raise chickens for profit, have a few larger livestock animals to raise meat for our family, and have a small garden to eat from with the intention of one day growing it into a market garden.
LT and I moved to Oregon from Texas just under a year ago for him to take a new job after COVID hit. Pre-covid, I owned a preschool in Texas, and I would like to open a preschool here that focuses on a farm-to-table concept in which we teach children about the land and bring them up in a way that encourages closeness with nature, eating from and giving back to the land. We would essentially like to put a one-room schoolhouse (about a 2000 sqft metal building) on the property that we would use to host the preschool classes every week.
As a Black woman, I am not someone who has not had the luxury of having family land that could be handed down to me after being in our family for a hundred years. I would love to change that for future generations that look like me.
We would love to start with a lease or lease to own but are also considering purchasing land. We have a lot of experience in preschool, and about a year of experience in chicken farming!
We would love to discuss any ideas you have, so please do not hesitate to reach out! Thank you so much!
Pasture, water, electricity.
We have some backyard garden experience and about a year of chicken experience.
Raising food for our family, opening a one-room schoolhouse for preschool students to learn about farming.
A market garden, and farm school community.
None at this time, but open to considering it for the future.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
