New farmer with a background in Plant Pathology, business, and flower gardening seeks space to start flower farming/farm event business. Will need access to class I or II soil, water, and sunshine.
May be open to starting small and moving as the farm business grows.
Immediate: Type I or II soil, good exposure, water, on-site sewer.
Long term: Water rights, on-site sewer, barns/structures, electricity, a location that is inviting for guests due to proximity to Portland and in a pretty setting. Zoning that allows for events. Possibility to be certified organic
I have a successful non-farming business that I've been running for the past 8 years, and have a degree in plant pathology. Before that, I was a WSU Master Gardener and I have been gardening my entire adult life.
My immediate goal is to have a place to grow all the cut flower plants I have ordered for 2021-2022. My short term goal is to create a local sales channel for cut flowers for my farm, create brand recognition, and create a loyal following through on-farm events.
Create living-wage jobs for farm employees, grow as an experienced farm business that is able to make excellent financial and ecological decisions that are good for the farm, team, and community.
I have a home I plan to live in and do not plan on living on the farm.
