Awesome Couple Seeking 5-15 acres Lease-to-own or Purchase in South Willamette Valley

Land Seeker Description

Hello! We are Nick and Angelina, we are an ambitious couple in our early 30s looking for our dream land to farm and call home. Organic Farming and horticulture have been passions of ours for our entire adult lives and we strive to build a business and homestead that sustains us and our future family.

Nick – I will be graduating from Oregon State in the spring with a bachelors in horticulture. Before studying at Oregon State, I earned my certificate in permaculture design from Quail Springs Permaculture Center and spend several years living in a community setting and learning basic building and maintenance skills. I am passionate about medicinal plants and apprenticed under a local herbalist for several years. I hope to apply all of my skills to helping people and the earth through native and medicinal plant propagation in a nursery format.

Angelina – I have been farming for 6 years. I started out working and living on an organic vegetable farm as an intern. Right away, I realized this was my path and how I wanted to live my life. I fell in love with the beauty and ever changing life of plants, with tending the land, and spending my days outside in all the varying elements. I started to focus mainly on growing fresh cut flowers two years ago. This has been a wonderful creative outlet for me, a way to blend my passion of farming, the wildness of nature and my love for art and creation.

Together we will combine our skills and knowledge to create a holistic family farm, growing cut flowers and fresh herbs and veggies for market and CSA. We also wish to build a perennial plant nursery business, including an educational aspect, holding classes and events to share our lifestyle and values with children and the public.

What features of the property are essential?

Water rights/a working well, organically managed soils (not sprayed with chemicals), land above the floodplain, some trees/forest, flat, farmable land

Describe your farming experience

Together we have a total of 8 years of combined farming experience. We have worked in a range of different farm settings and models such as vegetable production to market, restaurant, CSA and grocery, berry production, orchard management, nursery work and cut flower production. We also have experience in farm business management.

What are your short term goals for the land

We plan to get a solid foundation for our home and business in the first 2-5 years. We are passionate about organic farming and seek to build up organic matter in the soil as soon as possible. We also seek to build our business into a locally recognizable and reputable one.

What are your long term goals

Since we plan to have our homestead and our livelihood in the same place, we would be able to live in a holistic and sustainable manner. This is a lifestyle for us, so once established, we would just build and improve upon that foundation.

Describe your housing needs

We would love there to be a house of any size and a barn on the property, however we are open to building our own dwelling and structures if need be.
