Land Seeker Description

Hello,

My name is Amber and I am from Northern California but I’ve traveled and worked all over the world. My husband, Emanuel (Ema for short) is from the Santa Fe Province in Argentina. He and I both have diverse farming and ranching skillsets and interests. Primarily, I am familiar with rows crops, pasture management, and poultry although I’m also passionate about goats and goat milk products and using them for fire/fuel reduction as well. I have formal education and two degrees in Environmental/Watershed Sciences and Sustainable Agriculture. My husband grew up working at a 200 head dairy ranch and is especially fond of horses and is a dog trainer. We are both skilled and knowledgeable about tools, equipment, and infrastructure use and management. My father was a carpenter and we are both handy with woodworking.

We are first generation farmers and ranchers. We value living in harmony and balance with nature, and do not wish to work or live on conventional farming systems but are willing to transition a property with that history to a biodynamic and/or organic system. We value clean air and water, healthy soils, and an integrated approach to land management. We prefer to lease from someone who is respectful, a clear communicator, and open minded.

Primarily, we are interested in raising livestock for fuels reduction/land management/fire preparedness, milk, and fiber products in a regenerative and rotational manner. This could be combined with pastured poultry as well. We would like to employ the use of electric fencing and Livestock Guardian Dogs as protection for our livestock but don’t currently have any. Ema is a dog trainer and is looking forward to raising excellent guardians. Eventually, we hope to own our own land and have a diverse operation that offers a mix of fresh and preserved vegetables and herbs as well as value added products like teas, spices, cheeses and lotions. Right now we are only focusing on the livestock portion of our long term plan and looking for suitable land to have as a home base for the herd while we rent them out to manage vegetation in the North Plains Region of the PNW. Note, we do not have a herd currently but are in the process of registering our LLC and will be looking purchase goats and sheep starting at the end of May/Early June, 2025.

We both have part time off farm jobs currently as we are just starting this business from scratch. We prefer on-site housing options but  have a decent home base in Northern Beaverton until August currently. We do have our own self-contained 24′ travel trailer that might be nice to park at the leased land for access to bathroom and kitchen facilities if possible. We also have two amazing and well behaved ranch-raised dogs as well that would be likely to accompany us some of the time.

Water rights for a portion of the property is ideal, but not necessary for livestock watering so long as there is a spring or domestic connections available. Amber is passionate about row crops, but that is not an immediate part of business plan. However, we are passionate about rain water catchment and grey water reuse as well.

Please reach out if you think you might have a site that is a good match for us!

Best,

Amber and Ema

What features of the property are essential?

Hard external fencing ideal. Some type of water access for livestock. Electrical connection for 24' trailer also ideal. Hay storage or wet season covered areas for livestock or field shelters helpful.
