We are three aspiring farmers who want to start an organic market garden and multi-species grazing operation. We’re looking for 20-100 acres of land.
Our plan is to run a regenerative agriculture operation with livestock and produce garden for meat and vegetable CSAs. We plan on running a no till produce garden and intensive multi-species rotational grazing operation including cattle, sheep, and chickens.
Because we will be investing heavily into our soil and infrastructure we are currently only interested in land use options that result in us purchasing the land. This can be done up front or in a lease-to-own agreement.
Water rights / irrigation well.
We have zero formal farming experience. We all three enjoy gardening and have raised a few animals. One of us currently works in construction, one is a software engineer, one produces and sells fine art. We are in our early 30's, made smart investments that have paid off in our early 20's, and would like to transition to homesteading/farming.
Our immediate investments will be in our produce garden beds. The first fall/winter will test and adjust soil accordingly and construct necessary market garden infrastructure including high tunnel, harvest processing stations, and cold room. By year 5 the market garden will ideally produce a ~100 share CSA and a few restaurant contracts.
The livestock short term goals are to establish a grass fed meat CSA. Immediate infrastructure will include perimeter fence, rotational mob grazing paddocks, and livestock housing.
Our long term goal is a homestead that provides quality produce and protein to our local area customer base while growing top soil and burying carbon in the soil.
We would like to live on the land.
