Seeking farmer for 5 acres in Hood River / Special opportunity

Description

Unique situation. The Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital Foundation owns some acreage in the upper valley area. The property is off of Highway 35 on Leasure Road. The Foundation is seeking a person or group to grow vegetables on the property and is willing to be very reasonable with the farmer(s) in exchange for a portion of the crop to be donated to the community.

We believe a creative arrangement can be made where the farmer(s) can generate income from the land and help us benefit community members. We are willing to talk about ideas that might also include hoop houses for extended season produce.

Infrastructure is in place: Deer fencing all around, irrigation ready to go, a small barn for storage and use and electricity on the site. The soil has been deemed to be great and things to take into consideration would be the growing season (cooler temps in the upper valley comparative), starting from scratch and adjacent farming is not organic. But, the Foundation might consider helping with a plant barrier on that side of the property.

Nothing has been grown on property before. The East side of the property is a non-organic blueberry field that has it’s own fencing and irrigation. These berries are being farmed by a tenant.

As mentioned before, the Foundation is not looking for a financial return from someone to farm the land, rather a situation where the community would benefit from some of the crop (but an amount that is reasonable for the farmer).

Please contact us via email if you would like to know more about the property or arrange to see it. Thank you.
