Regenerative Market Gardener sought in North Marion County

Description

We have about 1.5 acres of level land with an agricultural well and power available, great south exposure, easy access to roads and local farmer’s markets in Aurora just north of the city of Donald. We are looking for a market gardener who will practice regenerative farming to preserve and enhance the quality of the soil. You will be the anchor farmer for what we hope will become a micro-farmer collective on our land. Please contact us via email if you are interested.

Owner’s Short Term Vision for the Property

A market gardener who wishes to become part of our micro-farm community. This farmer must be willing to practice regenerative, healing approaches to their craft rather than typical commercial practices. Organic farming principles apply.

Owner’s Long Term Vision for the Property

A thriving collaborative of small farmers using regenerative, intensive farming techniques to demonstrate that small holdings can be very productive. Become an educational center for local folks and other small farmers interested in regenerative practices, permaculture, etc. So there is opportunity for you to earn money teaching and sharing your craft if you wish. We have a nice teaching space on the property.

Current Use

Cover crops have been on the land for the last 5-6 years.

Available Water / Irrigation

We have a powerful agricultural well located with easy access to the land (it's just across the road and there are conduits under the road to make access easier).

Soil Type / Quality

Silty loam.

Buildings and Structures Available for Farm Use

None currently, though some are planned. It will depend on the farmer to some extent.

Farm Equipment Available for Use, Sale or Lease

You must provide your own equipment. We can do some tractor work for you, and you will need to develop your own resources.

Any Restrictions That Could Limit Agricultural Production

Water way through property that is under development for this next year.

What are you doing as a landholder to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your land and in your community?

The neighbors all around us are fine and would be protective. There are more Trumpian elements in the larger neighborhood judging from the yard signs. There is a nice hedge that shelters this land from the street and we can easily keep an eye out for them from the house.
