I just purchased a 20 acre farm that has been a bit neglected over the last few years. I’m looking to rehabilitate with sustainable farming practices, and I’m interested in leasing to like minded farmers. I’m improving the infrastructure (irrigation, fencing, etc) and can do some customization based on what you are looking to do. I can do 1, 2, 5, and a 10 acre parcel. I’m currently leasing 1 acre to a CSA, and I’m beginning a mushroom CSA myself. I’m open to livestock grazing, but primarily looking for vegetable farmers.
My short-term vision is to improve the outdated infrastructure (irrigation, electric, well, fencing) and lease land to local farmers. This is mutually beneficial as it improves the quality of the soil, and also provides local farmers with land at an affordable rate.
I have a 5 year plan to get the farm land healthy and all 17-18 acres productive again. I plan to do so using sustainable farming practices, and minimizing the amount of tilling and heavy equipment used. I want to create an ecosystem of vegetables, flowers, fruit trees, bee hives, and rotate live stock (pigs, goats, chickens, cows) through the property for beneficial soil reasons. I want to do this in partnership with local farmers to support the local economy, and provide high quality healthy foods for central Oregon. I intend to build premium infrastructure like a certified kitchen, cool rooms, storage containers for mushrooms harvesting, multiple barns, equipment etc.
Veggie/flower CSA
I have 18 acres of irrigation water rights through COID. I will be doing major upgrades to the irrigation over the next 5 months to ensure as much of the 20 acres as possible has access to irrigation. I also have a well and a washing station at a shared barn
The soil has been neglected for a few years. I'm planning multiple hügelkultur beds near each of the parcels as I use them to dispose of tree limbs I've been pruning or cleaning up on the property.
Shared: Barn, green house, caterpillar tunnels.
Rent: Tractor
There will always be someone on the property, and all leasers are vetted, and agree to strict farm rules & behaviors.
