Hood River

We own 15 acres on the Hood River where we started a market farm called, Fiddle Farms. We are about 8 miles southwest of the city of Hood River. We are currently cultivating about 15,000 sq feet of annuals with additional empty space to expand, and about an acre of perennials.  We’ve put in a lot of infrastructure including a large greenhouse with electric, 7 hoop houses for season extension, irrigation, fencing, a tool shed, CoolBot, etc. In the perennial areas, we have both mature and immature fruit trees and a variety of other fruit-bearing plants including blueberry, raspberry, aronia, goji, goumi, gooseberry, Mt. Ash, plums, elderberry, apples, peaches, plums and cherries. We raise a small flock of chickens and ducks for eggs.

Other features of the property include a shaded camping area: 2 guest cabins in an alder grove, hammocks, fire pit, outdoor shower, a deck overlooking the river and a lower deck with access to the river.

As for the living situation, the house (a 1910 dairy barn) is 6000 sq feet and was converted to livable quarters in the 70s. We live in the downstairs  area farmhouse and the upstairs area is a 2 bedroom/1 bath apartment with a kitchen and living room with separate entrance.

Owner’s Short Term Vision for the Property

For the past 10 years, we have hosted wwoofers and work-traders to help on the farm. For the past few years, and especially with Covid, we have scaled back and focused on growing food for ourselves and some friends. We would like to find the right people to rent the upstairs and continue to cultivate the land. Ideally, these people would have some experience farming/gardening organically and a strong desire to make a living from the abundance that this land can provide.
We are interested in collaborating on some classes, workshops, small events that utilize our unique and beautiful location.

Owner’s Long Term Vision for the Property

Once we’ve found the right fit for Fiddle Farms, we want to continue with farm projects (landscaping, remodeling, etc.) other than the primary annual food production.
