What am I offering? A small business [land + equipment] to grow to the limits of our usable land base and the production demands of an increasing customer base. Due to age I am needing to cut back on the physical part of this small business. Starting very small in 2008 I’ve made a market for locally grown fall and spring salad mixes that didn’t exist before. Vision: is to provide all salad needs with gross income between $10,000 and $15,000 yearly. I would like to stay involved as a junior partner and mentor.

Owner’s Short Term Vision for the Property

To continue to provide a wide variety of top quality lettuces and salad greens to four downtown Hood River restaurants during the off seasons of Feb. till June and September into December. I have four years experience growing this business. Production varies. Optimally my customers will take up to 40 lbs a week at a premium price.

I largely follow the guidance and methods of Elliot Coleman. Also what I've learned through the OSU Master Gardener program.

Soil Type / Quality

Soil is class two sandy loam with regular top-coat of fully rotted compost. Farmers Irrigation Co. provides initial filtered water at approx. 70 lbs pressure. I then refine further with two sets of fine screen filters and pressure reducers where needed. There are occasional outages. I have an alternate domestic water hookup for continuous watering. All areas are set up for both spray and drip watering.
I have a Hunter control system with iritrol valves and up to 16 fully programable stations.

Farming remains an outright use. I do have a conditional permit for a greenhouse from H.R. Co. Planning and Building Dept. for operating a small commercial farm with up to one non-family member employee.
