I’m looking for the right individual or couple to help me turn a rural homestead into a small farm in the Oregon Coast Range, near Seal Rock. Rooms available. Terms negotiable. Pets welcome.
I want to convert the house/greenhouse, and up to an acre of land around the house into a productive farm. I have identified the areas to be farmed, and begun land clearing. Some areas are already clear or covered in grass. Other areas will require intensive shrub removal (mostly blackberry and/or salal). I plan to get some goats to help with this.
This place would like to become a healing space for hosting retreats and group activities -- such as skills workshops, meditation, yoga, and support groups.
This is currently a residential homestead on a forested hillside in the Coast Range. There is about 1/2 acre of clearing around the house, that is currently grass lawn, a few raised beds, some berries, and rhododendrons. Another 1/4 acre is clear of trees, but full of blackberries. I'm planning to put a few goats in this area.
The house is large enough for 5 adults, but I currently live here alone with my dog. Total acreage of the property is over 60 acres that is shared with a few other homesteads. Most of the property is mature forest with abundant native plant and wildlife species.
Water is drawn from a perennial spring on the property. It is not public, and there is no water right. But this system has been in place and active for the past 45 years. Irrigation-intensive farming may require additional water system infrastructure. Rainwater catchment from house and adjacent shop building would be possible. Both buildings have metal roofs.
160 sq ft greenhouse (attached to house)
250 sq ft wood shed/barn
