For Lease up to 25 acres in Washington County

Description

We are looking to lease up to 25 acres of our property for agricultural purposes. The land has been used for farming in our family since the end of WWII and the current lease with a commercial nursery expired in October 2024. There is a minimum of 18 tillable acres, possibly more depending upon interest.

The property in question slopes down to a creek and pond on both sides so excellent drainage. There is a pond and irrigation rights can be explored. There is access visa side road so no interaction with the residents is required. The property receives direct south sunlight all day and both east and west during various parts of the day. The commercial nursery lease expired only because the nursery is downsizing and starting the process of closing the business.

The family would like to keep 5-10 acres of the entire 30 acre parcel as their home, outbuildings and for horses.

Look forward to connecting soon!

Thanks,

Selina Carter

Owner’s Short Term Vision for the Property

Agricultural use

Owner’s Long Term Vision for the Property

Agricultural use; land improvement for the environment. Property could be fenced and used for pasture for animals. Cost of fencing and responsibility would need to be discussed with tenant. Parts of the acreage have previously been used for grazing livestock.

Current Use

Commercial nursery stock

Buildings and Structures Available for Farm Use

Willing to discuss; outbuildings are used by land owners for horses and storage

Farm Equipment Available for Use, Sale or Lease

Willing to discuss. There is a pond on the property and we are willing to explore water rights for irrigation with the right tenant.

Any Restrictions That Could Limit Agricultural Production

Wetland zoning on some of the property but has not impacted the current use for growing commercial nursery stock or prior cover crops, hay and onion seed.

What are you doing as a landholder to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your land and in your community?

My husband is Native American and fairly new to farming but not livestock. I am a 4th generation farmer but women in farming and livestock are still not the norm. We understand how individuals of diverse backgrounds can feel unwelcome in the agricultural community. We welcome individuals of all backgrounds and farming experiences. We were blessed enough to have amazing, welcoming family and community around us to get us started on our agricultural journey and we would like the opportunity to pass it on. This property has been in my family for 3 generations and is adjacent to the property the original 4th generation made their home on. We live multigenerational with my mother and believe that living as part of a whole or a community is really the way we are meant to thrive.
