I would like to start a CSA or something similar. I already have hair sheep which I raise for food. Bees, and horses. I really like the idea of keeping my place in something agricultural for the future and I am ageing.
I would be willing to discuss whatever vision another potential farmer might have.
I want a cider orchard for a cidery, a coppice of sustainable hardwoods and some softwoods for cutting for woodworking, poles and other uses. And Vegetables. Another option would be a small scale equestrian facility. I want my vision to outlast me.
I have a coppice of small trees, and an area (4-5 acres) of rough with fir and mixed woods growing for future use. A one acre orchard with approx.75 fruit trees(between 1 and 10 years old) for cider and fresh use and a household garden, including small fruits and berries. I also have bees, sheep and horses.
Soil is a moderately heavy mix of Mt. St. Helens ash and clay/ Holds moisture well, but still drains adequately.
I don't have any irrigation systems. We have a well that is adequate for some irrigation and a spring.
We get approx. 80inches of rain every year. Our spring is about 2 weeks later than Vancouver or Portland, but often do not get a killing frost till Halloween or sometimes later. We get more snow but it doesn't get much colder. Sort of a cold zone 8
A large Barn with stalls, two smaller barns for equipment storage and our home.
Two trucks, two tractors, one with backhoe, both have loaders, rototillers, brush hog, post hole digger, disc, harrow, full range of hand tools.
We are zoned open spaces.
To contact a land holder, you must first fill out a land seeker profile and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
