For lease – 2 acres of certified organic land (with potential for 9 additional acres) in Benton County, 11 miles from the city of Corvallis

Description

The part of  the farm I’d like to lease  include 1/3 ac. with old strawberry plants, 1/4 ac. of blueberries (early, mid, and late blooming), 80 gooseberries (12 varieties),  1/5 ac. elderberries interplanted with currants, and haskaps. and two other plots currently fallow.

There is also an orchard of some 40 fruit trees that may also be included.

Owner’s Short Term Vision for the Property

I'm looking for a person who ideally fits in with the small community of people that already live here.
The most successful ventures I can envision are a CSA, a specialty crop for the farmers market, making value added products (jam or essential oil), or nursery stock.

Owner’s Long Term Vision for the Property

At this time I do not have any plans to sell this property, but at some point I may be interested in renting out my house and having a primary address elsewhere.
As for the land, it is my goal is to leave it better than I found it. I would like whoever takes over to continue nurturing this farm with the same intention.

Current Use

Until now this was a u-pick strawberry farm. However, the strawberries are in their 4th year and spent. They need to be removed.
As this is also my residence, I no longer want the car traffic involved with a u-pick operation.

Available Water / Irrigation

There is a 40' deep, 60gpm well strictly for farm use. I recently purchased a solar powered low pressure water pump and solar panels for this well.

Soil Type / Quality

Class 2 soil; Malabon and Dayton
Silty loam and clay

Cooler and chest freezer.

Farm Equipment Available for Use, Sale or Lease

Negotiable: A 30 HP  Kubota  tractor w/many implements (back hoe, brush hog, grader, forklift tines, tiller, auger, and fertilizer spreader; and multiple yard tools (electric riding mower, weed eater, rototiller, chipper/shredder, chainsaw).

Any Restrictions That Could Limit Agricultural Production

No exploitation of animals. I am okay with bee keeping.
I also do a "chicken rescue" for older and unwanted hens only.

What are you doing as a landholder to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your land and in your community?

I strive to be my open minded and nonjudgmental. I have also attended the Rogue Farm Corps class on Intercultural Awareness.
