Commitment: Part-time, hands-on apprenticeship

Flowers on Quince is a small, working flower farm located in North Salem. I am seeking a reliable and enthusiastic apprentice for a short-term, trial-based apprenticeship focused on learning and participating in small-scale flower farming.

This is a mentorship-style apprenticeship designed for someone who loves flowers, enjoys physical outdoor work, and wants real, hands-on experience to explore whether flower farming might be a good fit for them.

This is not a business partnership or startup opportunity. There is no financial investment, ownership, or profit-sharing involved.

What the Apprenticeship Includes

• Hands-on experience with seed starting, planting, harvesting, and field care

• Flower cutting, bouquet creation, and market preparation

• Exposure to the day-to-day and seasonal rhythms of a small flower farm

• Use of farm tools, workspace, and supplies

• Access to two 4′ x 8′ raised beds for personal planting and experimentation

  • All crops must be approved in advance to ensure compatibility with existing farm practices

Time Commitment

• Minimum one 4-hour field day per week

• At least two Saturdays per month assisting with market prep and/or attending the Salem Public Market (this is a minimum expectation)

• Friday evenings and Saturday mornings before market may be required as needed for harvesting and bouquet assembly

• Flexible scheduling outside of market needs

• Extremely reliable and dependable

• Comfortable with physical outdoor work

• Willing to take direction and follow through on commitments

• Curious, motivated, and respectful of shared land and systems

• Interested in local, seasonal agriculture and learning by doing

No prior flower farming or design experience is required—curiosity and willingness to learn are essential.

• This apprenticeship does not include ownership, equity, or guaranteed compensation beyond what is explicitly agreed upon

• Participation is at-will

• A simple hold-harmless / participation agreement will be discussed with selected candidates prior to starting
