Our family recently purchased a multigenerational home with approximately 11 acres at the southern edge of the Chehalem Mountains AVA on Ladd Hill. It is approximately 30 minutes from Portland and 45 minutes to Salem. The land is fairly wooded but there are several flat or gently sloping areas that are cleared with good southern exposure. There are no pre-prepared farming plots. The existing soil is Class 2 and 3 Silt Loam. It was previously used for a few cows to graze. The property has a dozen apple and pear trees, 4 plum trees, 100 ft of grapes, a dozen scattered cherry trees, a quince tree, and a persimmon tree that would be available if you are willing to tame them. We have realized that we don’t have the time to operate what we currently have and want to open the opportunity for a land seeker to use and add to. We don’t really have any restrictions on what you grow or animals you could keep. Some of the land was recently cleared of blackberries and deadfall as fire fuel reduction.

There is currently no permanent farm building but we do have a covered area that could be used for storage. We are open to someone building a barn somewhere on the property if needed. There is well water and electricity available and a bathroom for use.

We are open to most business arrangements and would love someone who is willing to help out in other areas of property maintenance though that is not a requirement. Ideally, this wouldn’t include a living situation but there could be potential for that in the right instance or sometime in the future. A partnership or a lease is preferred but we are open to your creative solutions. We own a small tractor with a front-end loader and I am willing to use it to help inf needed.

Giving back to the community is important to us so we would love for any organization to pick the existing fruit for donation. It would be nice to meet with you and hear your vision.
