1/2 Acre Farm Partnership Opportunity in NW Portland

Description

We have approximately 1/2 acre of usable agricultural land available on our property and are looking for a self-motivated person who would like to develop it into a productive small farm or garden.

The land has well water, installed irrigation, a solar-powered electric fence, and several existing raised beds, so there is already some infrastructure in place to get started.

We’re open to many possibilities: vegetable production, flowers, specialty crops, a small farm business, selling at a farmers market, developing a value-added product, or simply producing a substantial amount of food.

One possibility we’d especially love to see explored is a small U-pick blueberry operation. We tried to grow blueberries here previously but we simply don’t have the time to manage it. Someone with the interest and energy to develop that idea could potentially build on what we’ve already started.

We’re looking for someone who is independent, responsible, and genuinely interested in growing things, with the ability to take ownership of the day-to-day work. Ideally, this would be someone with long-term goals who wants to develop something productive rather than simply use the land for one season.

We’re hoping to develop a mutually beneficial partnership. We don’t have enough time to farm the land ourselves, but we’d love to see it being used productively and would be happy to work out a mutually beneficial partnership. We are also interested in working with someone whose agricultural activity could help us meet the requirements for a farm-use property tax assessment.

You are welcome to grow or sell what you choose, subject to a few restrictions:

• No marijuana
• No synthetic pesticides or herbicides
• Farming practices should be responsible and compatible with a residential property
• We’re open to discussing different arrangements depending on your goals and the type of agricultural project you have in mind

This could be a good fit for someone who wants access to land without having to purchase a property, and who is excited about developing a small-scale agricultural project over the long term.

We tried planting blueberries and setting up a small kitchen garden, but due to our work schedules, it has not been well maintained, and all the blueberries died. We are not farmers, though I have some gardening experience.
