I am the full time Caretaker/Farm Manager (living on the farm) for Holistic Life Farm. I recently retired from my “off farm career” to be “on the farm” full time. If you see yourself living a life filled with nature and minimal livestock care, lets talk. We do not run a CSA or outside enterprise from the farm at this time. Our goal is self-sufficiency and caring for our farm family. No tilling and restorative agriculture is our theme. Taking care of multiple livestock and poultry every day is a gift and a chore. The main chore times are early morning and early evening. Average about 2-3 hours total each day for hands on chores. Additional time every 2-3 days when fences need moved and livestock rotated in pasture. The farm currently has Mini Durham cows, Katahdin sheep, layer hens (mobile pasture coop), Nigerian Dwarf Dairy goats and some quail. We are adding 40 layers (it’s baby chick season) and possibly another goat or two. Daily farm chores consist of sharing the load of feeding/watering livestock/poultry, moving electric fencing (rotational grazers), barn upkeep, milking goats and maintaining vegetable garden. Ideally a retired or semi-retired person would fit in well with our farm family. I would consider a person who could work remotely because of our fast internet service. The farm has a 26ft-5th wheel set up for rent or work/trade if this is something that interests you. All utilities included. Laundry facility available in tack room. Space for vegetable garden. Living on the farm would be ideal. Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions and not be afraid of animal poop, pee, mud and slop. Able to lift up to 50 pounds important. Previous farm experience not necessary but must love working with animals. This is not a 40 hour/week job. Other income encouraged. Reliable transportation required. Must be willing to take direction and work independently at times. Must be dependable as our chore schedule is strictly adhered to each day. Compensation considered for the right fit if living off farm. Job starts end of March 2021 – Email your thoughts and possible fit with our farm family to Becky.
