Florence Farmers Market, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, works to ensure Siuslaw area residents have access to locally grown and produced food while supporting regional farmers, ranchers, fishers and food businesses to enhance the vitality of the community. The market, additionally, provides educational opportunities related to the region’s food system.
The Opportunity
Are you passionate about local food systems and community building? The Florence Farmers Market is seeking a thoughtful Market Manager to lead our weekly operations for the 2026 season. As the on-site operational authority, you will ensure our market remains a safe, organized, and welcoming space for vendors and shoppers alike.
This is a hybrid role that blends hands-on physical work with administrative coordination and community engagement.
Your Impact at the Market
- Operational Leadership
- Market Day Mastery: Lead the setup and breakdown of market infrastructure every Tuesday (12:30 PM – 7:15 PM).
- Logistics & Layout: Prepare weekly vendor placements and ensure all safety standards and signage are in place.
- Financial Integrity: Oversee fee collection, merchandise sales, and cash/check deposits.
- Program Administration
- Equity & Access: Administer our Equity Program distributions, helping vendors and customers navigate token systems and reimbursements.
- Team Supervision: Provide direction and support to the Market Associate and volunteers to ensure a smooth, high-energy environment.
- Community & Documentation
- Engagement: Act as a warm, professional ambassador for the market, addressing vendor concerns and assisting shoppers.
- Data Tracking: Maintain accurate records of vendor attendance, market metrics, and incident reports via Google Workspace.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Market Day: Tuesdays 12:30 – 7:15 pm (Required on-site in Florence, OR).
- Office Hours: Flexible remote hours for planning and reporting.
- Pre/Post Season: Additional hours in May (Training) and October (Evaluation).
- The Elements: This role is primarily outdoors. You should be comfortable standing for long periods and performing physical tasks in various weather conditions.
Qualifications
The Must-Haves:
- Excellent Communicator: Ability to maintain friendly, timely contact via email, text, and in-person.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs/Sheets) and mobile card reader hardware.
- Reliable & Organized: Strong record-keeping skills and experience handling cash.
- Physical Ability: Ability to stand all day, bend frequently, and lift up to 75 lbs for short distances (using handcarts and team-lifting as needed).

- A valid driver’s license.
- Personal vehicle and the ability to tow a trailer (a huge plus!)
