Rainshadow Organics is looking to hire one incredible person to manage our livestock operation. This position is a full immersion into what it takes to raise a diverse array of animals. Schedule and Compensation

  • Start date: April 21st 
  • 5 days a week, year round 
  • Average of 40 hours a week
  • 2 consecutive days off a week
  • $2600/monthly salary 
  • Health care stipend and 401k match after probationary period
  • PTO for vacation, sick time, and mental health accrued at 1 hr per 30 hrs worked
  • A single person share of our full diet CSA 
  • Optional housing provided

Duties

  • Being an integral member of a highly productive, full-diet farm
  • Managing and maintaining the needs and well-being of our diverse livestock operation. This includes the caretaking of pigs, horses, dairy cattle, laying hens, broiler birds, miniature donkey, turkeys, and sometimes dogs
  • Being vigilant on knowing the upcoming weather conditions and how that may affect the areas under your management
  • Playing a key role in the communication between the commercial kitchen and the farm
  • Communicating any supply needs in a timely fashion
  • Maintenance and cleanliness of trucks used for your tasks
  • Communicating animal updates with the part-time animal person so that they are set up for success 
  • Assisting with propagation and plant needs that take place in the greenhouses when needed

  • Enthusiastic to challenge oneself to master the sport and art that is farming
  • Committed for a minimum of one year
  • Excited to participate as a member of our small and intimate community 
  • A self directed, independent worker with great initiative and time management skills
  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly 
  • Willing to work early/late days in a variety of fluctuating conditions including, but not limited to, heat, cold, smoke, etc.
  • Passionate about honing new skills, work ethic, decision making, and efficiencies 
  • Flexible in scheduling and intake of information
