We are currently seeking an experienced Edible Landscape Coordinator and a Gardener to join our Edgefield team!

From the lovely vegetable gardens, grown using organic methods (and which provide seasonal ingredients for the Black Rabbit Restaurant & Bar), to the herb garden, orchard, vineyards (which supply our winery) and collection of perennials and trees – this is just a sampling of what Edgefield’s gardens have to offer.

Responsibilities:

The Edible Landscape Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of the vegetable garden throughout the course of the year, as well as, maintaining the fruit trees and herb garden on property.

The Gardener is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance of the landscapes of the Edgefield property.

Edible Landscape Coordinator Requirements:

  • Knowledge of plant material and gardening experience
  • Experience with vegetable garden production, orchard care and temperate fruit production including pruning, Integrated Pest Management, and organic fruit care of pest and diseases
  • Previous experience with tractor and other related power equipment
  • Excellent record-keeping skills of crop rotations, soil management, cultural care, harvest yields of fruit and vegetable crops, and sowing dates for greenhouse, direct sow and transplanting

Gardener Requirements:

  • Previous horticultural and landscape education and/or experience is required
  • Plant propagation and greenhouse experience is preferred but not required
  • Basic proficiency in plant identification and care
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate hand held power equipment and other heavy equipment
