About this Position:

The CSA Partnerships for Health Program Coordinator will work directly with the program staff to advance the goals of the CSAP4H program through logistical, evaluation, and communications support. This role serves as a point person for communication between interns, volunteers, Community Health Workers, farm partners, and program stakeholders. Focusing primarily on farm/clinic coordination and intern support, the CSAP4H Program Coordinator is an integral part of Zenger Farm, working alongside the rest of the Zenger Farm staff and community. This position will also support the Winter Farm Program Coordinator in field work duties. The position reports to the CSAP4H Program Manager.

Essential Duties

  • Provide oversight and coordination of all logistics for CSA produce pickup and deliveries

  • Set up and facilitate CSA distribution, using the DoorDash web platform to dispatch shares to DoorDash Drivers

  • Load in and drive produce boxes between distribution sites, storage facilities, and client homes using a cargo van, as needed

  • Communicate with CSA Partnerships for Health staff in real time, identifying and elevating  logistics issues and distribution issues

  • Communicate with healthcare personnel regarding logistics, client information and updates

  • Assist Winter Farm Program Coordinator in field work for winter farm shares; this includes the use of hand tools, and may include seeding, amending, transplanting, weeding, irrigating, trellising, pruning, season extension, pest management, harvesting, hauling and washing produce

  • Assist with CSA share packing

  • Support Program Manager in implementing program goals

  • Participate in regular staff meetings, trainings, and team building events to promote strong cross-program collaboration, board-staff relationships, and a work culture of mutual support, accountability, and organizational learning

  • Provide administrative support to farm and clinic partners, optimizing systems to track information

  • Network and develop relationships with CSA farming operations and healthcare organizations

  • Present about CSAP4H to community organizations,  healthcare partners, CSA farmers and funders

  • Other tasks or projects as identified by the Executive Director

Qualifications

  • A strong commitment to the mission of Zenger Farm.

  • At least 2 years of experience in program administration or coordination

  • Lived experience or significant experience working with low-income, immigrant, refugee, Black, Indigenous, and communities of color

  • At least one season of experience farming at an organic mixed vegetable farm

  • Strong communication skills using telephone, text messaging, email and in-person conversation

  • Ability to interact with health care workers, farmers, and Zenger staff members in courteous, professional manner

  • Ability to use a computer or tablet, familiarity and comfort with using email, spreadsheets, and web browsers

  • Ability to farm outdoors in all weather conditions and perform the above farming responsibilities

  • Current Driver’s License in good standing

  • Driving experience in automatic transmission cargo vehicles, or ability to learn

  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds with use of a hand truck and other supportive equipment

  • Ability to comply with all school district and state requirements regarding COVID vaccinations and background checks

Compensation: 

This is an hourly position located in Portland, OR. The current starting salary range for Coordinator positions at Zenger Farm is $27.04-$28.25/hr with the opportunity for merit-based pay increases and bi-annual market-based pay adjustments. Salary premium provided for fluency in communicating verbally/written in additional languages (Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Somali).
