Looking for a work trade opportunity or something similar for my fiancee, our two dogs, and myself. We are trying to move to Oregon and have somewhere to live while we check out the area, and maybe find jobs and housing. We are pretty open as far as our living situation, it would be sweet if there was some form of a building, maybe with running water? Maybe electricity? But honestly we could make do with a place to set up camp. We are interested in short-term or longer term, depending on the situation. Farming, permaculture, food forests, property management, landscaping, gardening, building paths and trails, and much more is what we could bring to the table.
Preferably in the Medford, Eugene, Salem or Coastal area. (Or in the mountains around those areas)
A little about ourselves and our dogs;
I (Loren) have grown up doing everything from childcare and office work to driving a steam roller and operating scissor lifts with a whole lot in between. My parents owned and operated a small private Montessori elementary school so I got to experience everything that goes on with the business, building, and property. I have also been a property caretaker and ocean kayaking guide for a yoga adventure spa in Parati, Brazil. Lived and worked on a small organic farm in the Santa Cruz area. Around Butte County, Ca. I have worked on numerous farms in Concow, Cohasset, and Forest Ranch. Beyond that I moonlight with my dad doing drought resistant landscaping and building fences, bicycle mechanic and sales, supervising a dog boarding center, selling camping, backpacking, and other outdoor equipment, and am a certified massage therapist.
Jayme grew up in San Jose and moved to Chico during high school. She is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher and has been teaching at a holistic healing center and a large gym in Paradise, Ca. She has nanny-ed and babysat two little boys off and on for a few years and she has also had a number of retail and food jobs. Besides gardening and yard work, she has helped out on a number of my farm jobs.
Our dogs are both under 25 lbs. Rosko a 20 lb, 5 yo manchester terrier, and Meelo a 10 lb, 3.5 year old miniature pinscher. They both hike and backpack with us, and Rosko goes for long trail runs with me.
We enjoy many outdoor activities including hiking, backpacking, swimming, cycling, trail running, and more.
A source of drinking water. Prefer to not have snow in the winter if we would be staying that long.
Worked farms, ranches, property caretaker, property maintenance, landscaping, trail and path construction and maintenance. Use of hand tools, power tools, and even heavy machinery including tractors, bobcats, scissor lifts, augers, and even a steam roller.
Get to Oregon, make our limited funds last while we get to know the area and find sources of income and possibly housing. Or move on to explore another area depending on the situation. We are both thinking of going back to school for different degrees.
Continued zest for life. Depends on what we find along the road between here and there. Maybe having roots settled by then.
A shack, cabin, or cottage would be sweet. A tiny house. A place to build a hut, shack, cabin, tiny house, 'glamping' tent, or even just setup camp.
