Land Seeker Description

My family owns and operates a certified organic grass fed beef and grazing operation in the long tom watershed.  We love what we are doing but are at a very challenging scale and are seeing that we must get bigger.  We are looking for grazing or hay ground to purchase with some cash and an FSA loan. Also interested in a leasing opportunity.

What features of the property are essential?

Lots of pasture, hay or grazable woodland.

Describe your farming experience

I was introduced to farming shortly after high school (graduated ‘07) by a close friends parents who were deep into it. They wondered why this kid wanted to spend so much time with “these old folks” but I couldn’t get enough and we’re close still. In my 14 seasons farming I’ve focused on produce, orchards, meat processing and grazing. In 2017 I realized grazing was to be my focus and in 2020 went all in buying a grazing, hay, and beef business. We have 3 children under 5 so it’s had it’s challenging stretches but overall a beautiful experience I’m deeply grateful for. However, we are realizing the scale is incredibly challenging. Just big enough to where we need our 2 tractors and hay equipment but barely have enough ground to use it. So, looking to buy or lease more ground!

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

I want to double my beef and grazing business in the next 5 years. We are too small at the moment.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

We can give respect to all who enter, seeing the humanity and similarities we all share while acknowledging and appreciating the differences.
I am proud to have relationships with local Laos and Oaxaca families who come and harvest some of their traditional foods during our on farm slaughters throughout the year.
