Looking for sandy loam bottom land , with water, and electric. Housing and/or able to build with out huge hassle. Out buildings, field and pasture a plus. Looking to live and farm on site.
Power. Both irrigation and well water for drinking. Good septic. Sandy loam river bottom that doesn’t flood is key. Pasture would be great, field space for saffron cultivation, and pasture space for critters.
Ultimate dream will have equipment storage, hay/animal barn, repair shop. Other outbuildings will definitely be a plus. Hopefully not too over the top rocky. Woodland is great just for sheer enjoyment and stewardship.
I’m an intergenerational woman farmer. I now grow saffron commercially. My life partner is also an experienced farmer. I was raised with conventional farm practices, and watched the old timers get cancer from it. I left the farm at 14 swearing I’d never ever, and now I can’t think of anything I’d rather do in life.
Land prep, planting for saffron corms with return harvests. Beginning community space for being a research /teaching farm.
Established research and teaching farm, with community space for gardens, and production. This will include everything from all the aspects of farming, to repairs, to office work/PR, product development, and bookkeeping.
Establish research/classroom space, and clean kitchen for product development/production.
Expanded saffron production.
Possibly a couple of mother in law living spaces for both our moms as they age.
Training facilites for my daughter to utilize in her horse craft.
We need at least 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Good water. Good septic. I love a great kitchen, but can make do. Both my partner and I do remote work, so space for that is great. Prefer a wood stove for heat. And great storage for putting up. Electric whether from grid, off grid or combined. A good foundation, and roof.
My partner and I are both of combined heritage, and live with the knowledge that the only way for any of us to be stable, is for all of us to be as stable as possible. He is a world traveler, and so were my family. Diversity and inclusivity brings wisdom. It’s just how we live.
