Young entrepreneur and partner seeking land to start a small permaculture homestead space which would be the primary source of produce for my business Home Grown Food Products. We are new to the area and have just begun getting our product in the stores in Grants Pass and the surrounding areas. We have a long-term vision of returning to the home-grown model. The business began as a homestead project near Portland and was passed on to me before I moved to Josephine County, and the produce for the business was grown at the homestead. Now that we’ve got our product on a few shelves, we’d like to find a new space to call home and build Home Grown Food Products into a thriving local-food value-added products company. Right now we just do kraut, and would like to expand to other ferments as well (pickles, kimchi, chutneys), and in the next few years we want to add goat dairy ferments, kombucha, etc.
My partner has the major farming experience, coming from a farm family on the east coast. I am the food processor extraordinaire, but I have been adamant about getting into the dirt to learn how the whole system works from soil to table. We come with a very friendly indoor/outdoor fixed female cat.
1-5 acres would suit our needs. Ideally we’d like to live on the land. We can possibly provide our own housing, but are also interested in an outbuilding, shed, cabin, tiny house that’s already on the property.
Water rights, on-site well, soil for vegetables, irrigation capability,
I have limited farming experience. My experience is in gardening, livestock care (cattle and sheep) and landscaping. My partner has about 3 years farming experience with sheep, poultry, and vegetables.
Would like to plant cabbage, herbs, and other pickling vegetables in order to provide produce for my sauerkraut business. The business is already established and would grow to include a variety of value-added food products that center around fermentation.
We also would like to plant fruit trees, berry bushes, and other perennial and annual crops for future products.
Long term we would like to see the homestead established and ready for the addition of dairy goats. We would like to be able to do workshops on the land and create an educational space and market that teaches folks about food preservation and sells the products of the land.
We may be able to provide our own home as we are looking at tiny houses currently. If we find the right spot before that, we would need a small cabin with running water. Off-grid is acceptable.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
