We are a family of six looking to establish a near self-sufficient family farm that will serve as a foundation for our children’s growth, our commitment to sustainability, and our contribution to local and regional markets.
We are seeking a property with at least 2 acres that includes either water rights or a method to collect significant rainwater. A mix of woodland and pasture is ideal to support solar integration, firewood harvesting, and our sustainability goals. Structures on the property would be helpful but are not required, and a creek or stream for small-scale hydroelectric energy production would be a welcomed bonus.
While the above is our ideal situation, we are open to any combination of assets your property might possesses. We are eager to take a look at your property and have conversations with you on what you may have to offer. We would love to take something others may seem as invaluable and create something valuable to us.
We’ve spent 30+ years living in small farming communities in the Midwest, operating a hobby farm in Illinois, and have lived in Portland proper for the last 11 years. Ready to return to our roots, we are passionate about creating a productive and sustainable family farm while raising our four children to be active, contributing members of our operation and society.
As a seasoned entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in manufacturing and telecom technologies, I bring a track record of building successful businesses and navigating complex challenges. This entrepreneurial spirit, combined with hands-on farming experience, positions us well to make the most of this opportunity and build a thriving agricultural operation.
Accessible to Downtown Portland in ~25mins, all other aspects we we welcome as a creative challenge.
We’ve spent over 30 years in small farming communities and operated a hobby farm in Illinois. Our experience includes raising small livestock and managing sustainable practices. We’ve also lived in Portland for 11 years and are now ready to return to farming full-time.
We intend to begin farming almost immediately, starting with small livestock and gradually expanding to include honey bees, a dairy cow, and a small herd of beef cattle. Additionally, we aim to grow a small grove of 50-200 Christmas trees and establish local market connections for our products.
Our goal is to develop a sustainable, self-reliant family farm that contributes to local markets in the short term and expands to regional marketing in the future. We are open to innovative ideas and creative pathways to achieve this vision.
A home on the property is preferred, whether move-in ready or requiring work we can perform ourselves, but it is not a strict requirement. However, the ability to live on the property is a must.
We value diversity and community engagement. Our goal is to create a farm that not only supports sustainability but also fosters inclusion and collaboration within the community.
