Land Seeker Description


We will be expanding our gourmet mushroom operations for the remainder of 2018 and are looking for land on which to build our business. We would be putting up 2 grow tents that will be custom tailored to the needs of our varieties of Oyster and Shiitake mushrooms. We will also be constructing a sterile lab environment so that we can quickly become self-sufficient, creating our own grain spawn. We have already been approved for funding for these developments but need land that is suitable for out needs: Access to water, a shelter for operators (2 people & Dogs), and slopes that are not overly steep. We are seeking a reasonable lease-to-own or partnership so that we can utilize the capital at our disposal to develop operations. This agreement must be long term as we want to care for the land and find a place to establish roots.

Although we are mushroom specialists, both of us have farm management and/or project management experience. What features of the property are essential?

Water Rights or access to water. Living quarters. The ability to build small structures on land or structures that could be re-purposed would be a large help. Access to other utilities required.

What are your short term goals for the land

Construction of: 4 250 sq ft grow tents; 2 Inoculation Labs/Grain propagation; Packaging and storage area to include walk in cooler. Sterilization Station. Overhangs for all areas to all for year round production.

Goal: By 5 years have our seasonal strains well established and producing roughly 20,000 Lbs. of Gourmet Mushrooms Annually. At low end whole sale value (18$/5Lb.) this business will quickly become profitable. If we were to be customer facing and sell at retail prices (10$/Lb.), we are looking at large profits within a few short years.

What are your long term goals

Within 10 years we want Humongous Fungus Farms to be entirely self-sufficient:
- Grow cover crop - Wheat Rye
- Use Wheat Rye for mushroom propagation
- All sanitation and pasteurization will take place on site
- Produce roughly 35000 Lbs. of mushrooms annually: Primarily sold in bulk to food distributors.
- Renewable energy installation to run all exterior structures
- Month long internships
- Week long intensive workshops
- Offer month long internships that will teach new farmer how to take advantage of growing mushrooms.
- Offer week long intensives to paying clients on building their own business.
