Seeking land (1+ acre) to lease to garden (tomatoes, peppers, herbs, flowers, etc). Housing included with leasing property/farm would be ideal in order to commit to long working days.
Water or rain collecting, electricity, on/grid off/grid options. Storage or barns would be a benefit as well.
My family has been generational farmers in Nebraska (livestock, corn, hay, gardening, canning, food storage), & so I grew up farming, but due to living in the city, have been restricted to gardening from raised garden beds for 10 years.
Goal is to produce enough food to sell crop shares, supply local food pantries, and can/store food. Practice seed saving/preservation. Learn more about companion planting to avoid using pesticides or chemicals.
Long term goal is to gain enough experience to be able to acquire my own farm or enough income from flowers, bees, vegetables to lease-to-own.
2 bedrooms for me & my family at least, with storage or garage.
I believe in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where people from all backgrounds feel safe, valued, and respected. To achieve this:
1. Fostering Education and Dialogue: I will actively seek opportunities to educate myself and others in my community about diversity, equity, and inclusion. This involves learning about the cultural and historical backgrounds of the people around me to better understand their experiences.
2. Promoting Open Communication: I will encourage open and respectful communication, ensuring that everyone feels heard and understood, whether they are workers, visitors, or members of the community.
3. Implementing Fair Practices: On my farm, I will prioritize fair hiring, wages, and working conditions, ensuring equitable opportunities for people from all walks of life.
4. Creating Safe Spaces: I will make the land a safe and welcoming space by addressing any forms of discrimination or harassment and fostering a culture of mutual respect.
5. Community Engagement: I will collaborate with local organizations and leaders to host events, workshops, or initiatives that celebrate diversity and strengthen community bonds.
